A Guitars 4 Vets lesson
The folks at Guitars 4 Vets Canada have a pretty simple mission — put a guitar in the hands of veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder or other disabilities.
Jim Lowther, the man behind the program, says this simple act is life-changing for someone who’s suffering.
I spoke to him about this form of self-help for Samaritan Mag.

Don Cherry wearing plaid
If you noticed more-than-normal numbers of folks geared up in plaid leading up to Father’s Day there’s an explanation.
Prostate Cancer Canada kicked off a new campaign called Wear Plaid For Dad to coincide with the day. Like the title suggests, it mostly involves the act of wearing plaid. For a good cause.
In an article for Samaritan Mag I spoke to Prostate Cancer Canada’s Rocco Rossi who explained what the whole campaign was about.

Empty movie theater
Flea bites. Sleep daze. Antihistamine reactions. Hallucinatory appearances by David Cronenberg.
They were all things that happened during one of Sarah’s strangest experiences at a movie theater.
She recalled the details of her weird trip as part of a compilation feature on Consequence Of Sound about people’s Most Memorable Movie Theater Experiences.
Sarah still has no idea whether the Cronenberg she saw was real or not.

There’s a rather sinister narrative in certain sectors of the autism community that parents of autistic children have been saddled with a burden so dramatic that only a eugenics-minded grim reaper could rectify their issues.
This is bullshit.

People who text while driving are the worst humans.
People who text while driving are officially the Worst Humans of 2015.
These road menaces beat out people who aren’t actually gluten allergic in the final round of the 2015 Worst Human March Madness poll earlier today, scoring 58 per cent of the popular vote vs. wheatophobes.
The victory capped a thoroughly dominating tournament for horrible texting drivers, having beaten people who don’t cover their mouth while coughing by a decisive 80-20% vote count in The FU 4 round, pummeling frequent selfie takers 69-31% in The Awful 8 round, dismantling road rage drivers 84-16% in The Shit 16 round, smacking down people who are always late 71-29% in round two, and in what would be their closest contest, defeating people who park in handicap spaces by 53-47% in the opening round.
Society has now spoken. Let this be a lesson to all who text while driving.
