Deadmau5 vs. Haunted Houses And Niagara Falls

Deadmau5

Deadmau5

It was only meant to be a cheeky throwaway for Halloween.

Sarah had some stray quotes from her Deadmau5 interview where he lit up on the haunted houses in his hometown of Niagara Falls and said he had to move to Toronto for his music. Some swear words, some zings… that’s it.

The story, though, published in Huffington Post Music Canada, has since become much more.

The mayor of Niagara Falls and local councilors responded in the Welland Tribune. The Niagara Falls Review version of the same story then became a fascinating comment board party.

And in the aftermath of all that came “Deadmau5 Responds To Critics.”

Feel free to read through and comment. Everyone else has…

Brittney Palmer, UFC Octagon Girl, Renaissance Woman

Brittney Palmer

Brittney Palmer

To the best we can tell, when the UFC linked to Sarah’s story about Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer’s paintings on their Facebook page it became the most “liked” story she has ever done.

And what’s to hate? It’s an interview with a woman who wears short shorts as a profession talking about how she makes paintings of Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger.

Matthew Good’s New Album ‘Arrows Of Desire’ Inspired By The Pixies

Matthew Good

Matthew Good

Matthew Good has never played coy about what influences his music. Just ask him about Talk Talk.

I mention this mostly because he has a new album out called Arrows Of Desire and the Pixies played a pretty big part in its creation.

I know this because he told me as much for Huffington Post Music Canada.

Louis C.K. vs. Smartphones vs. An Essay

Louis C.K.

Louis C.K.

Awhile back barroom sociologist Louis C.K. went on a rant about how much he hated cell phones. Which is fine. He’s allowed.

Sarah, however, happens to make very good use of her smartphone and was invited to write a rebuttal to his column for Huffington Post.

You can read what she wrote by going here.

The ‘Whoa-ness’ of Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reaves

Keanu Reaves

While Sarah was mostly on the music film beat at the Toronto International Film Festival this year she did get to make one interesting diversion — covering Keanu Reaves’ martial arts film Man of Tai Chi for the folks at Fightland.

Keanu wanted to make a classic fight film with this one, with all the tropes and traditions of past martial arts movies.

The jury’s still out on whether he did this brilliantly or stupidly, but you can read the review by clicking here.
