Coldplay’s Game Of Thrones Musical For Red Nose Day USA

The Rastafarian Targaryen

The Rastafarian Targaryen

That Game Of Thrones: The Musical idea that Coldplay unveiled last week was pretty brilliant what with its “Rastafarian Targaryen” and Tyrion Lannister’s humblebrag he’s still alive.

There was a reason for the musical above and beyond it being an awesome idea, though.

Coldplay’s GOT videos were part of the first ever Red Nose Day USA television special.

I wrote about what Red Nose Day is for Samaritan Mag.

‘Silicon Valley’ Takes On The UFC

Silicon Valley's main characters

Silicon Valley’s main characters

If you haven’t been watching the new Mike Judge sitcom Silicon Valley you’re basically a stupid person.

The show featured one of the best jokes in television history last season and this year they’ve turned a fictional UFC pay-per-view into a humiliating plot point.

Sarah wrote about this amusing twist for Fightland.

True Detective

True Detective

The folks at the Toronto International Film Festival have decided to include television shows in the festival this year under the banner Primetime.

TV, apparently, has gotten so good (in the good parts, anyway) that it deserves to be treated with the same respect as film.

Sarah wrote about this phenomenon in a new column for Consequence Of Sound.

A Brief History Of Fighting In Sitcoms

Homer Simpson can take a punch

Homer Simpson can take a punch

There are a number of classic plots that pop up regularly in sitcoms — the broken-telephone episode, the grandpa-comes-to-visit episode, the high school reunion episode, etc — but one of the most entertaining ones is often X main character-takes-on-a-pro-fighter, hilarity ensues.

Sarah tracked down a number of these classic episodes from shows as wide-ranging as The Simpsons, iCarly, George Lopez and Ally McBeal.

To read about them, head over to Fightland by going here.

The Story Behind The Metal T-Shirt Dave Grohl Wore To The Grammys

Dave Grohl shows off his Children shirt on the 2015 Grammy red carpet.

Dave Grohl shows off his Children shirt on the 2015 Grammy red carpet.

A funny thing happened at the 57th Grammy Awards on Sunday night: Dave Grohl wore a t-shirt to the fancy music industry dress-up event.

And not just any t-shirt, a shirt repping “Death Tribe,” an EP by the little known metal band, Children.

I tracked down Jonny Ollsin from Children to talk to him about the Foo Fighters/Nirvana player’s clothing choice.

Among the things I learned: his favourite Grohl-related band is Nirvana, and the 12″ of “Death Tribe” was originally supposed to feature an elaborate wax etching of the Mayan calendar created by his wife.
