Loving

Loving

One of the best movies Sarah saw at TIFF 2016 was the interracial relationship drama, Loving.

The film was a “thoughtful exploration of civil rights abuse” which follows Loving v Virginia, the United States Supreme Court decision that struck down the state’s anti-miscegenation laws.

Sarah wrote about the film for Consequence Of Sound.

Mascots

Mascots

Christopher Guest, the master of the mockumentary, has released a new film covering the world of competitive mascotting called, coincidentally, Mascots.

The film will break little new ground for anyone familiar with the likes of Best In Show and A Mighty Wind. But what it does showcase is a master at his craft once again creating something solidly entertaining.

Sarah reviewed the film for Consequence Of Sound.

Free Fire

Free Fire

One of Sarah’s favourite directors is Ben Wheatley.

Because of this she made a point to see his new film Free Fire when it played at TIFF 2016.

Though not the knock out that High Rise was, the film displayed Wheatley’s “level of commitment, craftsmanship, and reliability.”

Salt And Fire

One of the more confounding films Sarah saw at the Toronto International Film Festival this year was Werner Herzog’s maybe environmental kidnap drama Salt And Fire.

Says Sarah, “Fans of his unique style and humor will find much to enjoy in Salt and Fire, even if the film does lack some proper cohesion.”
