When Joe Lauzon Is Your Artistic Muse

So there’s an Irish artist named David Balfe who finds mixed martial arts fighter Joe Lauzon pretty inspiring.
This, naturally, seemed like the perfect sort of assignment for Sarah to do for Fightland. So she interviewed Balfe.

Three Artists Critique MMA Fashion

Despite being fans of the sport, we here at Risky Fuel loathe one thing about mixed martial arts — the shirts.
The amount of times we’ve burst into laughter at the sight of some tough guy walking to the ring in a shirt with a glittering skull with a snake coming out of the eye sockets, wrapped in chains, surrounded by daggers, in the clawed palm of a dragon (or some similar approximation) has been staggering.
But rather than commit a series of insults about these shirts to print, instead Sarah found three genuine artists and got them to critique some outlandish outfits.

To the best we can tell, when the UFC linked to Sarah’s story about Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer’s paintings on their Facebook page it became the most “liked” story she has ever done.
And what’s to hate? It’s an interview with a woman who wears short shorts as a profession talking about how she makes paintings of Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger.

Top 30 Superhero Songs: A Music Playlist
Prince’s Batdance
When the Fan Expo blew through Toronto recently I used the opportunity to hunt down a bunch of the best superhero-themed songs I could find for Huffington Post Music Canada.
The resulting list wasn’t just songs about Batman and Superman, but also songs about Silver Surfer, The Hulk, Ghost Rider, Magneto and a whole lot more.
