One of the films at TIFF 2012 is Greetings From Tim Buckley, which tracks the journey of Penn Badgley as musician Jeff Buckley laying claim to the legacy of his late father and fellow musician Tim Buckley.

The movie also has a metal connection, with Anthrax bassist Frank Bello playing the role of punk icon and Buckley contemporary Richard Hell.

Sarah spoke to Bello about the crazy whirlwind that was playing Hell in the film as well as whether or not Badgley successfully pulled off his role as Jeff Buckley.

TIFF 2012 Gets Skrillex, Spike Lee And A Jeff-Tim Buckley Film

Spike Lee and Skrillex

Spike Lee and Skrillex

The Toronto International Film Festival announced a number of new movies that would be showing at the event and there were a few music ones amongst the names.

The highest profile would probably be Spike Lee‘s Michael Jackson documentary Bad 25 about Jacko’s Bad album. Next is Harmony Korine‘s Spring Breakers and its soundtrack by Skrillex. Then there’s Greetings From Tim Buckley, which is probably the lowest profile of the three, but likely the most interesting to record collector types.

Anyway, Sarah wrote a recap about this for Spinner. You can read more by clicking here.

The Toronto International Film Festival announced a number of its music related movies earlier this week and Sarah was in on the announcement.

There’s going to be some fascinating stuff: Peaches is going to be doing a musical, that will be a film, Rob Zombie‘s horror flick Lords Of Salem will premiere, and Snoop Dogg will document his transformation into Bob Marley’s ghost as Snoop Lion. There’s also a movie with Eminem in it. And more.
