Is Black Sabbath Evil Or Good?

Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath rolled through Toronto recently and that was a flimsy enough reason for me to contemplate the important question, “Is Black Sabbath evil or good?”

Using a variety of multimedia clips and historical documents I was able to determine that the band is… a little bit of both.

This Week In Music History: January 20 – 26

Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley

My latest “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

In this edition we examined some of the things that elevate an artist, make them as much myth as man. For Elvis Presley it was his jumpsuits, for Ozzy Osbourne it was biting heads off animals, and for David Bowie it was an ever-shifting sexuality.

To find out what I’m talking about as well as other things that made music history, click here.

Pop stars are sometimes not the most ruthlessly literal people in the world. In fact, it could be argued they spend most of their lives in a world that has little to do with reality.

So it should come as no surprise then, that these same pop stars have been attributing various properties to rain that, quite frankly, aren’t true. Professor Sarah Honeydew isn’t a fan of such abuses so she catalogued a number of these infractions for the AOL Music Blog.

You can read about Purple Rain, Black Rain, Fire Rain, November Rain, Dishonest Rain… you name it, there’s a type of rain for it… by clicking here.

Cancer Bats Become Bat Sabbath, Black Sabbath Cover Band

Cancer Bats

Cancer Bats

The Risky Fuel household thinks Cancer Bats rip pretty hard. We also think Black Sabbath rip pretty hard, too.

So in our minds, the idea of the Cancer Bats doing cover sets as Bat Sabbath, a Black Sabbath cover band, is sort of like a harmonious chocolate-and-peanut butter-type thing.

In fact, Aaron dug the idea so much that he went and interviewed Bat Sabbath/Cancer Bats lead singer Liam Cormier about the whole crazy idea for Hellbound, our friendly metalhead friend website. You can read more about Bat Sabbath by clicking here.
