The Black Angels & Crime And The City Solution Album Reviews

Black Angels' Indigo Meadow

Black Angels’ Indigo Meadow

There’ve been a heap of good records released recently for the jean jacket ‘n’ airbrushed van art crowd and two of them have been The Black AngelsIndigo Meadow and Crime & The City Solution‘s American Twilight.

I reviewed both of those albums over at Spinner.

Heart On ‘Stairway To Heaven’ And Being Canadian (Sort Of)

Heart

Heart

Heart have made some of the best songs in the history of rock music — “Magic Man,” “Crazy On You” and “Barracuda” — and recently the covered another great, Led Zeppelin‘s “Stairway To Heaven,” and did it so well they made the band cry. Before Heart came to Toronto for Canadian Music Week I got a chance to talk to Nancy Wilson about doing that song in front of Zep as well as what other covers they know. That story can be found at Spinner by clicking here.

I also tried to clear up that peculiar urban myth that says Heart are a Canadian band in a separate story for Huffington Post Music Canada. You can read about that one by going here.

Pink Floyd’s Flirtation With Rap

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd

UPDATE: Because Spinner is no longer available in Canada you can read the story HERE.

When you talk about guys who’ve been around in the music world, super-producer Bob Ezrin ranks right up there.

Ezrin’s responsible for producing mega-records like Pink Floyd‘s The Wall and Alice Cooper‘s Welcome To My Nightmare. One thing he didn’t do though, was get Pink Floyd to consider ways of incorporating rap into their music in the ’80s.

He told me as much in an interview for Spinner before an appearance at the recent Canadian Music Week.
