SickKids hospital has been putting on a campaign to illustrate how a seriously ill child can impact an entire family.

I helped put a couple of these family stories together for Huffington Post.

One of these stories involved Kael, a boy who spent more than a year in the hospital with a rare immune-deficiency disorder.

One of the pleasant surprises from the world of film this year was the entirely credible reboot of the Rocky franchise with the film Creed.

Led by Michael B. Jordan as the son of Rocky’s greatest adversary Apollo Creed, one of the film’s great successes was the quality of the fight sequences.

Sarah looked into what kind of training Jordan did to prepare for his role in Creed.

Sheldon Kennedy’s Heavy New Doc ‘Swift Current’ Explains Abuse’s Damaging Trail

Former NHL hockey player and sexual abuse victim Sheldon Kennedy has faced a long and difficult road through addiction and mental health issues to get to the healthy place he’s at now.

The lasting effects from the abuses he suffered are laid bare in uncomfortable detail in the new documentary Swift Current, which debuted at the Rendezvous With Madness film festival last week.

I spoke to Kennedy about the film and he hopes people will learn from it for Samaritan Mag.

Most of these will look stupid.

Because I care about these things I tracked down a moustache expert from the Toronto Facial Hair Club who gave me pointers on how to grow some wicked whiskers this month.

Some officiating bodies not so into a person’s self-determination didn’t want him to.

The result was a different sort of fight… for one’s rights.
