The ‘Whoa-ness’ of Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reaves

Keanu Reaves

While Sarah was mostly on the music film beat at the Toronto International Film Festival this year she did get to make one interesting diversion — covering Keanu Reaves’ martial arts film Man of Tai Chi for the folks at Fightland.

Keanu wanted to make a classic fight film with this one, with all the tropes and traditions of past martial arts movies.

The jury’s still out on whether he did this brilliantly or stupidly, but you can read the review by clicking here.

Paul Potts

Back when TIFF was happening the Susan Boyle-before-Susan Boyle Paul Potts was getting overshadowed by Taylor Swift appearing at the premiere for One Chance, the film about the singer’s life.

Sarah spoke to Potts about the movie, how tall Swift is and how he wanted the film to be a comedy and not some sad-sack portrayal of his life.

Lucky Them Explores Music Journalism At TIFF

Lucky Them

Lucky Them

One of the films Team Risky Fuel took particular interest in at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival was the fictional look at music journalism Lucky Them.

Having ourselves been warriors on the frontlines of music writing (and idealized poverty) for more than a decade we can say with a certain amount of comfort that they got it reasonably right.

As such Sarah talked to co-screenwriter Emily Wachtel, director Megan Griffiths and star Toni Collette about the film for a feature on Huffington Post Music Canada.
