The Walking Dead Star’s Skill With Swords

Danai Gurira

Danai Gurira

Danai Gurira’s character Michonne in zombie apocalypse television show The Walking Dead is a sword-wielding badass.

In real life Guira had to put in the training to be able to look good doing the undead slick ‘n’ dice on the show.

Sarah wrote about this training for Asian World Of Martial Arts.

Jiu-Jitsu Is Back

Jiu-Jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu

At UFC 196 two of the biggest wins — by Nate Diaz over Conor McGregor and Miesha Tate over Holly Holm — were capped off with jiu-jitsu finishing moves.

This was affirmation that jiu-jitsu, one of the most important elements to mixed martial arts, though one of the least flashy, was still vital to success in the sport.

Sarah wrote about this for Asian World Of Martial Arts.

Beck's Odelay

Beck’s Odelay

Beck’s breakout album Odelay turns 20 in the next couple days so I felt it was a good reason to take a trip down to Hot Take City about it.

NXNE 2016: Where I’m At

Ghostface Killah

Ghostface Killah

NXNE is a whole lot smaller and a little bit stranger this year.

The reason’s pretty obvious: if you’ve been paying attention at all there’s a music festival war going on in Ontario and sometimes you need to pull back to survive. So now there are less bands at NXNE, less venues and the whole concept of hopping from club to club has been mostly dismantled.

There is, however, still good music to be seen.
