Gerry Anderson’s signature supermarionation series’ like Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons were much more than just puppet shows for kids.
If you look closely there was a whole lot of Cold War anxiety woven into the various series he made.

The month of April was Autism Acceptance Month, a counter-movement against the cure-focused Light It Up Blue campaigns.

When Sarah occasionally writes about her autistic experiences for various publications there’s usually a virulent response, almost always from the parents of an autistic child, who tries to shout her down by saying she’s a) not autistic enough, so her opinion doesn’t count, or b) glamorizing the whole thing.
This is not true.

Holly Holm
Holly Holm may have lost the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title belt in her first title defense at UFC 196 this past weekend, but in the lead up to the event she presented a master class in how to navigate awkward media encounters and the peculiar societal expectations and scrutiny that high profile female athletes — especially ones connected to the aggro dude world of mixed martial arts — face.

Dirty Grandpa
There’s a thing happening in film right now where baby boomers-and-older are getting thrust into these fish-out-of-water party flicks.
The most recent example is the Robert De Niro film, Dirty Grandpa.
