City Confidential Was A Murder-ously Good Show

Paul Winfield, City Confidential narrator

Paul Winfield, City Confidential narrator

For a big chunk of February 2016 the Risky Fuel household with filled with tales of bucolic towns, charmingly eccentric characters… and murder.

That’s because Sarah went into a deep, dark tele-viewing hole to watch old episodes of the A&E true crime series City Confidential.

Her most important takeaway: That the show’s late narrator Paul Winfield was brilliant.

She wrote about the reasons why in a story for The A.V. Club.

Tami Neilson’s Love And Loss

Tami Neilson

Tami Neilson

One of my favourite musical discoveries from this past year is old tyme country crooner, Tami Neilson.

Neilson, who lives in New Zealand but was originally from Canada, at one point used to have to busk on the streets of Midland, Ontario for food. Knowing Midland as I do, that she could succeed at this is a profound marvel to me.

I wrote a feature story on her for The Bluegrass Situation.

The spectrum

This is not true.

She explained why in a piece she wrote for The Establishment.

Reason Why You Shouldn’t Kick Elevator Doors

Elevator door kicking

Elevator door kicking

Sometimes learning the physical skills of a given martial arts isn’t always accompanied by the learning of wisdom.

Sarah wrote about this phenomenon in a story of misadventure for Asian World of Martial Arts.

In said story you’ll learn about, amongst other things, the person who tried to karate kick an elevator door.
