Rolling Stones' Brian Jones and The Doors' Jim Morrison

Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones and The Doors’ Jim Morrison

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

This one was kind of a bummer because this was the week Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones died as well as Jim Morrison of The Doors. It was also the week that the Sony Walkman debuted, but whatever.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

The big news is that Michael Jackson died this week. I know, it’s a tragedy. In other stuff, Wham! played their last show, Beyonce went solo, and a bunch of people got trampled in mud and died during a Pearl Jam performance.

Elton John

Elton John

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

Elton John made the list because he played a show on short notice for a couple bottles of wine. Chris Brown made the list because he’s a bad human. And Phil Spector made the list because he’s a bad human, too.

Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

The Risky Fuel household has become all turned around on Bruce Springsteen‘s Born In The U.S.A. album in recent months and it just so happened that the anniversary of this record’s release was this week. 2 Live Crew, on the other hand, were banned in the U.S.A., when a judge declared them obscene (don’t worry, it mostly made them more popular). Oh, and remember when Left Eye from TLC burned down Andre Rison’s house? Yeah.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

Interestingly, it was this very week 33 years ago that John Lennon and Yoko Ono holed up in Montreal to have a bed-in for peace, and to create the song “Give Peace A Chance.” Contrast that to the provincial government trying to clamp down on student protests in Montreal lately. Also, Bobby Dylan was born.
