TV Actors Who Think They’re Musicians

TV musical types

TV musical types

It’s not quite as rare as scoring an EGOT, but television actors who end up making it as a double-threat as musicians is pretty rare.

That hasn’t exactly stopped them from trying, though.

Sarah spent some time over the weekend tracking the various artists who’ve jumped from the small screen to the big stage, and you can read the resulting article, titled “TV Stars Who Moonlight As Musicians,” at Spinner by clicking here.

Judas Priest Perform Their Epitaph

Judas Priest

Judas Priest

The Risky Fuel household is a pro-Judas Priest one. Aaron first fell in love with them when AWA tag-team wrestlers The Midnight Rockers would come to the ring to the song “Living After Midnight,” and Sarah tweaked to them when, upon realizing Rob Halford was the gay, that all their songs needed to be re-examined as coming from the perspective of a leather daddy top.

Anyway, the Priest have announced they’re not going to tour regularly anymore, so this latest trip to Toronto might be the last time we ever get to see the band. As such, Sarah made a pilgrimage to the Air Canada Centre and wrote about it for the National Post. You can read about it by clicking here.

Arkells Inspired By Fleetwood Mac

Arkells

Arkells

You guys remember the Arkells from that wicked song “Oh, The Boss Is Coming,” right?

Well, they’ve got a new album out called Michigan Left and it’s not so much about the working man Constantines rock of their past as it’s about them diggin’ the music of the ’80s. Specifically people like Fleetwood Mac.

Aaron talked to the Arkells about this for Spinner and you can read the resulting article by clicking here.

Invading The Y108 Indie Show

The Schomberg Fair

The Schomberg Fair

Aaron was very excited to recently join host Barry Taylor on Hamilton radio station Y108’s “The Y108 Indie Show.”

The pair shared some stories and gossiped like little schoolgirls. They also played some cool new music, too. Namely the following:

Zeus – “Are You Gonna Waste My Time”
The Dirty Nil – “Verona Lung”
Monster Truck – “Seven Sea Blues”
Ox – “Out On The Weekend”
The Mark Inside – “There Is Nothing To Admit”
Rick Aucoin – “Dying To Live”
Danko Jones – “Mouth Yo Mouth”
Nordic Nomadic – “Summer Friends”
Schomberg Fair – “I’d Raise My Hand”
Bry Webb – “Ex Punks”

The Y108 Indie Show airs every Monday night at 9 p.m. ET and repeats the following Sunday at 6 a.m. ET. To stream Y108 click here.

Early risers and super-raging party people can catch a rerun of Aaron’s episode on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 6 .m.

How LMFAO Are Like Teletubbies For Adults

LMFAO

LMFAO

Contrary to popular belief, we aren’t entirely no-fun cynical haters of populist music. In fact, the Risky Fuel homestead welcomed the music of party rockers LMFAO into our household a few months back and it’s been a non-stop danceathon ever since.

Sarah, in particular, has been so smitten by the antics of the technicolor duo that she went to see the band perform recently at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. Sarah found the brilliant spectacle to be pretty much the equivalent of watching the Teletubbies — except for adults. You can read more about this theory in the live review she wrote for the National Post by clicking here.

Relatedly, here’s the most popular LMFAO song in our household right now:
