10 Great Psychedelic Neil Young Moments

Neil Young

Neil Young

Neil Young recently put out an album called Psychedelic Pill which, as the name suggests, is a bit of a bug out, maaaan.

With that in mind we were inspired to track down some of the most psychedelic things Neil’s done in his life — including onstage Jawas, Charles Manson songs and the ending to Journey Through The Past.

The result: 10 Great Psychedelic Neil Young Moments. Which you can find on Spinner by clicking here.

Enjoy the trip, dude.

An artist rendering of the Michael Jackson baby dangle

An artist rendering of the Michael Jackson baby dangle

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

This one was particularly weird because not only did I get to talk about the infamous Michael Jackson baby dangling incident, but there was also not one but two rock ‘n’ roll child bride divorce stories. None of which involved R. Kelly.

When The Raconteurs Covered Danko Jones

Danko Jones

Danko Jones

Danko Jones may be hard rock’s Rodney Dangerfield in Canada, but in Europe he’s the king. So much so that when The Raconteurs, the band led by Jack White and Brendan Benson, were over there in 2006 they were covering Danko’s “Samuel Sin” in concert.

Danko was in Europe at the same time, in the same cities. Unfortunately he never got to see The Raconteurs perform his song — he had to be in bed.

Polaris People For The Week Of Nov. 16 (Black Mountain! Chad VanGaalen! The Weeknd!)

Chad VanGaalen

Chad VanGaalen

The latest edition of my Polaris People column is online over at the Polaris Music Prize website.

Black Mountain are going to be part of an insane-o good sounding Austin Psych Fest, Chad VanGaalen has produced a weird cartoon, and The Weeknd may have done his first media interview. May have.

Ol' Dirty Bastard

Ol’ Dirty Bastard

My “This Week In Music History” feature went out again this week over at the Spinner.

This is a sad one because this was the week that Wu-Tang Clan member and defender of children everywhere Ol’ Dirty Bastard died of a drug overdose (was assassinated in a government conspiracy).

In this edition you also get to see John Lennon‘s penis (barely, considering the size of his man bush).
