The Story Of When Dallas Green Didn’t Meet Neil Young

Dallas Green

Dallas Green

Neil Young was a big deal at the Juno Awards in 2011. He won stuff and hung out and everybody was Neil Neil Neil!

I got within 10 feet of him or so myself, so it was pretty cool. Didn’t get to talk to him though. If I did I would have asked him if he watches Top Gear.

Anyway, there was someone else who didn’t talk to him either — City And Colour‘s Dallas Green. Thing is, Green sung one of Young’s songs (“Old Man”), on the award show broadcast, so that was a whole different level of Neil interaction.

I asked him about it for Huffington Post Music Canada.

The Toronto International Film Festival announced a number of its music related movies earlier this week and Sarah was in on the announcement.

There’s going to be some fascinating stuff: Peaches is going to be doing a musical, that will be a film, Rob Zombie‘s horror flick Lords Of Salem will premiere, and Snoop Dogg will document his transformation into Bob Marley’s ghost as Snoop Lion. There’s also a movie with Eminem in it. And more.

Spinner News Triple Pack: A Tribe Called Red Mix, Carly Rae Jepsen Nude, A-Trak vs. EDM (UPDATE: Now Five-Pack)

A Tribe Called Red

A Tribe Called Red

Here’s the latest batch of news stories I’ve done for the Spinner AOL empire:

With “EDM” being the new breakout thing in music, DJ A-Trak wants people to remember to respect the turntablist.

One of my new faves, Ottawa DJ crew A Tribe Called Red released an exclusive mixtape  to Spinner to celebrate their appearance at Toronto’s Mad Decent Block Party. You should get it here.

Carly Rae Jepsen is not  involved in a nude photo hacking scandal. Which, awkwardly, Vancouver Police say they have a suspect for.

Hey, I added two more news bits from the week of August 3:

1) Drake is finally gonna graduate from Degrassi.

2) Tiesto and Skrillex were the world’s highest paid DJs last year.
