The latest edition of my Polaris People column is online over at the Polaris Music Prize website.

This time we investigate Austra‘s new video, look over the coverage of Colin Stetson‘s new album and mourn the (maybe) loss of Drake’s fancy automobile.

12 Puck Rock Songs For The NHL Playoffs

Lars Eller

Lars Eller

Normally it’s me who’s all about the jock jams, but Sarah also did her part when she created a list of hockey rock songs for Huffington Post Music Canada to celebrate the start of the NHL playoffs.

In said list you’ll find iconic songs from the likes of The Tragically Hip and Stompin’ Tom Connors.

Read the list here.

Sarah did, however, forget to include this gem from our close personal friend Darrin Pfeiffer.

HP News: Grimes Wins Webby and Nardwuar Takes On Questlove

Grimes

Grimes

I’ve been churning out the news stories over at Huffington Post Music Canada lately and here are a couple of them:

Grimes wins a Webby Award.

Nardwuar takes on Questlove.

P.S. I totally know where Nard got some of his info on Questo… but I’ll never tell.

R.E.M. Murmur

R.E.M. Murmur

Recently WNYC’s Soundcheck allowed me on its airwaves to talk about the story I wrote about R.E.M.‘s discography where I ranked all the band’s albums “from ass to awesome.”

Now, thanks to the marvel that is modern technology you can relive these amazing 20 minutes of R.E.M. by downloading it here.

Enjoy. Monster forever.

Feist Holograms And Arcade Fire Babies, Spinner RIP Trivia

Feist and the Holograms

Feist and the Holograms

Feist recently performed simultaneously in three cities in hologram form. Also, Regine Chassagne and Win Butler of Arcade Fire gave birth to a baby boy last week.

While these two news stories were both of tremendous interest to the indie Can-rock gossip community, they have a dubious distinction as well: they’re the last two stories ever published on the now suddenly-dormant Spinner website. Yeah, it’s true. AOL Music very promptly shut down the site on Friday.

So now I’m the answer to a trivia question nobody will ever ask, “Who wrote the last story ever on Spinner?”
