Corey Hart
Corey Hart, he of the “Sunglasses At Night” fame, is having a bit of a career revival thanks to the gay community latching on to a song of his called “The Truth Will Set You Free.”
Sarah talked to Hart about the song and its very emotional genesis for Huffington Post Music Canada.

Elijah Wood
Most folks don’t know it, but Elijah Wood, better known as Frodo, is a man of solid musical taste.
In fact, some folks think so highly of his crate-digging that he was commissioned to create a box set of rare 45 singles.
Sarah talked to him about it for Spinner. You can read the story by clicking here.

Nadina, singer for Delerium
Anyone remember when people like Enigma and Deep Forest and the like first started doing that ethno-techno-house-ambient stuff full of Gregorian chants and “exotic” instruments? And now we have, like, Major Lazer and the internet so nothing’s exotic anymore?
Well, back in the day Frontline Assembly/Skinny Puppy dude Bill Leeb created Delerium to sorta straddle that line between ethno techno and aural angel hugs and now he’s made a new video for a song called “Monarch” with a singer named Nadina.

Carrie Underwood & Tim McGraw
Sarah spent last weekend in the rain and mud and relative wilderness of the inaugural Boots And Hearts country music festival in Bowmanville, Ontario.
The festival, which is aiming to become a sort of Bonnaroo for new country, had a pile of big names like Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock and Tim McGraw perform across its three days.
It also had non-stop rain, mud and front loading tractors driving through the middle of the audience (you have to backtrack through Sarah’s twitter account at @fodderfigure to see some of this stuff… it was kind of an Apocalypse Now adventure).
Anyway, she also wrote an official recap of the fest which you can read over at The Boot by clicking here.

Spike Lee and Skrillex
The Toronto International Film Festival announced a number of new movies that would be showing at the event and there were a few music ones amongst the names.
The highest profile would probably be Spike Lee‘s Michael Jackson documentary Bad 25 about Jacko’s Bad album. Next is Harmony Korine‘s Spring Breakers and its soundtrack by Skrillex. Then there’s Greetings From Tim Buckley, which is probably the lowest profile of the three, but likely the most interesting to record collector types.
Anyway, Sarah wrote a recap about this for Spinner. You can read more by clicking here.
