Clint Malarchuk On Mental Health: ‘It Doesn’t Matter How Tough You Are, It Can Hit Any Person’

Clint Malarchuk, the 1986-87 Rendez-Vous All-Star.

Clint Malarchuk, the former NHL goaltender best known for suffering a gruesome skate-slash-to-the-neck injury in his playing days, recently attended the Rendezvous With Madness Film Festival to promote his new book The Crazy Game a showing of his ESPN 30 For 30 doc, Cutthroat.

Throughout his playing days and into retirement Malarchuk dealt with obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, alcoholism and an undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder. The weight of these illnesses eventually led to a suicide attempt.

It didn’t succeed. And after a lengthy rehab Malarchuk has emerged to tell his story.

I spoke with him about it for Samaritan Mag.

Zanta: The Living Legend Reviewed In This Magazine

Zanta

Zanta

Team Risky Fuel has infiltrated another organization. This time it’s old school print style in This Magazine for my review of Jason Kieffer’s graphic novel Zanta: The Living Legend about the divisive shirtless character who stalked Toronto streets doing random push-ups last decade.

I always found Zanta to be an entertaining sideshow, but there are many layers of dark to his story and Kieffer captures them well.

Book and magazine shops which don’t suck should probably have the July/August 2013 issue in stock.

Carly Rae Jepsen Obsessed With The Hunger Games

Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen

Apparently, just like every other person in the known universe, breakout singer Carly Rae Jepsen is obsessed with The Hunger Games.

Is she Katniss and Peeta? Is she Katniss and Gale? Who knows? Because when Sarah interviewed Jepsen for the AOL Music Blog they didn’t really discuss that part. But what they did talk about you can read by clicking here.
