Vaughan Mills Pet Patrol in action.

The topic of leaving your pet unattended in a sweltering automobile on a hot day is becoming an issue that’s popping up in the news more frequently as animal lovers become increasingly outraged about potentially negligent behaviour by pet owners.

At the Vaughan Mills shopping centre just north of Toronto the facility’s staff are taking an innovative and pro-active approach to this problem — the Vaughan Mills Pet Patrol.

I spoke to Vaughan Mills GM Stephen Gascoine about what goes into looking out for dogs in hot cars.
